We've just completed a stealth radio installation on a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible. The owner of the vehicle wanted the vehicle to appear as original stock at first glance, and also didn't want the integrity of the vehicle hurt in any way. Therefore, the original radio was kept in its stock location, and the new Alpine CDA-9887 unit was installed in the glove box. The original 4" x 10" speaker was removed from the dash, and replaced with two 4" MB Quart component speakers. Tweeters were added down on the kick panels, using factory screw locations. An Alpine MRP-F550 amplifier powers the deck speakers and tweeters, mounted underneath the passenger seat. Power from the amplifier was taken from the starter cable and run underneath the car, passing through a factory grommet, so as to appear as stock as possible. No wiring for the stereo can be seen under the hood or in the vehicle.
